Why wait till it hurts?!?!

JUST WAIT TILL IT HURTS?

Greetings from the Office of Dr. Jack Bodie!

Well I thought after 36 years in dental practice that I had heard it all. But this one really surprised me. It just goes to show, we should never say never and that just about anything is possible.

This all began a few weeks ago when a patient came in for a consultation. We asked her if she would want to know about anything we could see that would cause her problems down the road. She said she would, so we completed our examination and began to discuss some of the issues she was facing. I could not help but notice her look of shock as I reviewed my findings with her.

When all was done I got the line I had never heard in 36 years of practice. “My old dentist told me to “Just wait till it hurts.””. I almost fell out of my chair! I asked her if he really said this (in complete disbelief). She assured me it was true. I wanted to ask her who it was but quickly decided I was on the losing side of the discussion.

Now there may be some of you out there that believe the old saying “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” applies to teeth. So let’s think about that for a minute. If a tooth does not hurt, does it mean it’s healthy? Would you believe me if I told you it is common knowledge among dental professionals that teeth can be severely decayed, broken, or worn down with zero pain? The fact is, we see teeth like this every day in the office!

The really sad thing about it is that virtually all dental disease can be prevented or treated inexpensively early on. And even worse, by the time it hurts, we’re talking big bucks to save the tooth, or, tooth loss and expensive tooth replacement!

But then it hit me! I think I finally realized why this dentist told my patient “Just wait till it hurts.” He wants more of her money!

If you’d like to save money and teeth, we can help. Just call 972 235 4767 or e-mail us at BodieStaff@DrJackBodie.com for an appointment today!

Best Regards,

Dr. Jack Bodie DDS
