This Friday, December 11, marks one of the highlights of the Christmas season at First United Methodist Church Richardson – the annual Christmas Concert. Familiar songs of Christmas, along with new favorites, will be sung by The Chancel Choir and The Journey Youth Choir of FUMC Richardson. This year’s special guests will be the Richardson Symphony Orchestra and Concert Bells of Ft. Worth.

The concert will feature two well-respected conductors. Clay Couturiaux is Music Director and Conductor for the Richardson Symphony Orchestra and also serves as Assistant Director of Orchestral Studies at University of North Texas. Stephanie Rhoades is the Conductor and Artistic Director for Concert Bells of Fort Worth.

Michael Lightfoot, Director of Music Ministries, believes this yearly concert delivers something for the whole family.  “What makes this concert special is the fact that we play a wide variety of classic Christmas songs. People want to hear the music they knew as a child.”

Each year, Mr. Lightfoot searches for special guests that will provide excitement and a high level of musical expertise. Previous guests include One O’Clock Lab Band of UNT, Dallas Brass and Sandi Patty. He is thrilled to welcome back the RSO this year and to add Concert Bells of Fort Worth.

This year’s concert will be in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church Richardson located at 503 N. Central Expressway (southbound service road between Arapaho and Beltline).

Doors open at 6:30 pm and the concert starts at 7:30 pm. Tickets are still available for $10 and can be purchased online at or at the door.
