Lake Highlands High School’s show choir Espree presents “Espree Goes to the Awards” on Friday and Saturday, February 24 and 25, at 7pm at the LHHS auditorium.  Espree is the high school’s dynamic pop vocal group complete with a live band and dance choreography.  This year’s performance will feature many award-winning songs and popular British pop and rock numbers.  The artists whose music will be featured include The Beatles, George Michael and Wham!, Aretha, Adele, Carole King, Coldplay, Phil Collins, Glen Campbell, Norah Jones, and many more. There will also be hits from the stage and screen (think “Wicked” and “Pitch Perfect”)!

Tickets are $12 for reserved seats, $10 for general admission and $5 for students.  All Espree alumni are invited to attend, wear their alumni button, and sit in the special alumni section that will be set aside just for them.  Advance reserved tickets are now available from current Espree members. Tickets can also be purchased at the door. For group ticket information call 214-342-8570.

Under the direction of Kari Gilbertson and assistant director Jared Wade, each annual Espree show is the culmination of many hours of practice and preparation both during and after school.  Elaborate lighting, lively choreography and colorful costumes create one incredible show that performs before a sold-out crowd every year.

Espree has been performing throughout the school year at various venues such as Forest Meadow Junior High’s Market in the Meadow and the LHHS Choir Holiday Concert.  Their December holiday tour included performances at Medical City Hospital, UT Southwestern Simmons Cancer Center, Northpark Mall, Park Cities Baptist Church, and CC Young Senior Living Center.  Espree capped off their final performance of 2016 by performing for skiers at Winter Park, CO ski resort during their annual December ski trip.

Espree was formed in 1980 and is composed of top juniors and seniors who audition for selection into the group each May.  Instrumentalists can audition as sophomores.  The singers are paired as couples who perform duets, solos and ensembles at various performances throughout the year.  Espree members are active in many areas at LHHS, including student government, NHS, athletics, Cheer, Wranglers, Highlandettes, and theater.
