The Richardson Symphony Orchestra (RSO) is excited to open its 63rd season with an electrifying concert on October 5, 2024. This performance marks the 13th season under the direction of Maestro Clay Couturiaux, and promises to be a night of monumental music-making at the Eisemann Center for Performing Arts.

The evening’s program will feature two iconic works from the classical canon: Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Minor, Op. 37 and Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique.

The concert will begin with Beethoven’s beloved Piano Concerto No. 3, performed by the renowned pianist Kenny Broberg, a medalist from the prestigious Cliburn Competition. Broberg’s exceptional artistry will shine as he takes on this masterpiece, known for its dramatic shifts between intensity and lyricism. From its brooding opening to the rousing final movement, Broberg will explore the emotional and technical depth that has made this concerto a cornerstone of piano repertoire.

The second half of the program will feature Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique, a thrilling, programmatic symphony that pushes the boundaries of orchestration. This vivid, emotional work narrates the story of an artist's intense passions, unrequited love, and hallucinatory dreams, expressed through some of the most imaginative and groundbreaking music of the 19th century.

“Music connects everyone listening. Its range of expression is without limit. I invite you to explore and experience music that plumbs the depths of human feeling through a vibrant, engaging, and exhilarating 2024-25 season with the Richardson Symphony Orchestra!” said Maestro Clay Couturiaux.
