As much as students wish it weren't, the start of the 2012-2013 school year is right around the corner. However, instead of waiting for the rush, parents are advised to go ahead and make sure their students have all the necessary immunizations required before school starts.
The required immunizations are listed below:
3-4 years of age
- DPT - four doses
- Polio - three doses
- Measles - one dose (may be listed as MMR)
- Mumps/Rubella - one dose (may be listed as MMR)
- Hib - three or four doses
- Hep B - three doses
- Varicella - one dose
- Hepatitis A - two doses
- Pneumococcal - one dose
- Influenza - not required but highly recommended annually
Kindergarten - Third Grade
- DPT - four doses if younger than 7; three doses if older than 7
- Polio - three or four doses
- Measles - two doses
- Mumps/Rubella - two doses
- Hep B - three doses
- Varicella - two doses
- Hepatitis A - two doses
Fourth Grade - Sixth Grade
- DPT - three doses
- Polio - three or four doses
- Measles - two doses
- Mumps/Rubella - one dose (second dose highly recommended)
- Hep B - three doses
- Varicella - one dose
Seventh Grade
- DPT - three doses (Tdap booster is required if five or more years have passed since the last dose of tetanus containing vaccine)
- Polio - three or four doses
- Measles - two doses
- Mumps/Rubella - one dose (second dose highly recommended)
- Hep B - three doses
- Varicella - two doses
- Meningococcal - one dose
Eighth Grade - Tenth Grade
- DPT - three doses (Tdap booster is required every 10 years)
- Polio - three or four doses
- Measles - two doses
- Mumps/Rubella - one dose
- Hep B - three doses
- Varicella - two doses
- Meningococcal - one dose
Eleventh Grade - Twelfth Grade
- DPT - three doses (Tdap booster is required every 10 years)
- Polio - three or four doses (not required for age 18 and older)
- Measles - two doses
- Mumps/Rubella - one dose
- Hep B - three doses
- Varicella - one dose
