September 2012 is “Hunger Action” month and the North Texas Food Bank wants everyone to get in on the action. Participants can contribute in numerous ways – advocating and raising awareness, making a donation or giving time and energy at an event.
There are always events and organizations that are partnering up with the North Texas Food Bank, but one of the biggest ones is the State Fair of Texas. The State Fair will begin on Friday, September 28 and anyone that brings three cans of food will get into the state fair for only $2.
People can also show their support for the North Texas Food Bank by purchasing a North Texas Food Bank shirt for $30 or a North Texas Food Bank tote bag for $20. Purchasing the shirt would provide 90 meals for those in need while buying the bag would provide 60.
The North Texas Food Bank has been in existence since 1982 and has always strived to address the critical issue of hunger in the North Texas area. Every day, the North Texas Food Bank provides access to 90,000 nutritious meals. However, to adequately feed the homeless population on North Texas, over 300,000 meals are needed.
