Richardson Schedules More Spraying After Mosquito Traps Test Positive for West Nile Virus

With the weather slowly transitioning to fall, North Texas residents can soon put their fears of mosquitoes behind them. However, until the cold weather comes and the mosquitoes are gone, residents must remain vigilant. The City of Richardson is doing its part by continuing to spray in areas that test positive for the West Nile Virus.

The city will be spraying in two areas of Richardson on both Tuesday, September 11 and Wednesday, September 12. The first area to be sprayed is bounded by North Floyd Road to the west, Canyon Creek Drive to the east, West Lookout Drive to the north and West Campbell Road to the south. The second area to be sprayed is bounded by Waterview Drive to the west, Nantucket Drive to the east, West Campbell Road to the north and Melrose Drive to the south.

The spraying will occur each night beginning at 10:00 p.m. and will go on until around 4:30 a.m. However, if wind speeds in the area are greater than 10 miles per hour, the city will postpone spraying until the weather improves.

Residents are encouraged to stay indoors during the spraying hours and to also bring in household pets. If anyone does come in contact with the spray, wash the affected area thoroughly with soap and water.
