The JJ Pearce High School community had a tremendous turn out at the “Meet and Greet” hosted by the Pearce Athletic Booster Club on Wednesday, June 29th at the II Creeks Plaza in Richardson.

The "Meet and Greet" was held to honor and welcome new members to the JJ Pearce leadership; Principal Michael Evans and new Head Football Coach and Area Athletic Director, Coach David Collins, along with Coach Collins’ wife, Crystal Collins.

Principal Evans comes to JJ Pearce from Wylie ISD, where he was most recently principal at Burnett Junior High.  Principal Evans holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Texas A&M and a master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of Texas at Austin.

Coach Collins leaves Longview’s Pine Tree ISD, where he was Head Coach and Athletic Director.   Coach Collins was the Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator at Lake Travis High School prior to his role in Longview. While at Lake Travis, he was a part of the 2011 4A Division 1 State Championship team.   Coach Collins holds a master’s degree in education administration from Lamar University and a bachelor’s degree from Sterling College.

Also in attendance were RISD Trustees Kristin Kuhne and Katie Patterson, along with RISD Athletic Director Leslie Slovak, and many JJ Pearce coaches and families.

The Pearce Athletic Booster Club also kicked off their 2016 “Pony Up!” campaign at the Meet and Greet.  Identifying that the current locker room facility and equipment is in dire need of immediate refurbishing, PABC put a plan into action and is working to improve the training and work out facility before students return to campus. The facilities are used by many  student athletes, including but not limited to student athletes participating in football, basketball, baseball, track, volleyball, wrestling, soccer, and softball. Shady’s Burger Joint donated a percentage of profits towards the “Pony Up!” campaign on the night of the Meet and Greet.

JJ Pearce Alumni or neighbors wanting to contribute to the “Pony Up!” Campaign can go to www.pearceathletics.org and scroll down to “Pony Up!” or please contact Ed Vinzant for more information, at 214-632-5155.
