“The inspiration came when I saw some photos of storm clouds, which I love to paint. Having already created a sculpture called ‘Dancing in the Stars’, ‘Dancing Up a Storm’ came to me. I combined the two thoughts to create this sculpture. I love the combination of the warm colors of reds, yellows, tans and browns playing off the cool colors of blues, bluish grays, and whites. I also wanted to show the dancer dynamically commanding space like dancers do, enthusiastically dancing among the stormy clouds so nonchalant like there is nothing strange about it. It makes me smile!”
