Richardson Masonic Lodge Holds Open House and Family Picnic

Saturday, May 11, 2019, 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

The Richardson Masonic Lodge will host an Open House and Family Picnic to introduce members of the public to the Richardson Masonic Lodge and to answer questions about Masonry and about its Affiliated Organizations and Appendant Bodies.

Men join Masonry to enjoy fellowship and worthwhile activities with other men who share similar values, including belief in God, religious tolerance, civic-mindedness, charitable giving, and support for law enforcement, the military, and public schools. Public education in Texas was begun by Masons, and the first lodges in Texas housed the first school rooms. Today, men participate in Masonry to become better men?thereby increasing their knowledge, understanding, wisdom, and leadership, in their homes and in their communities.

Masonry is rich in history, and many of the founders of both the United States and the Republic of Texas were Masons. These include such notables as George Washington, Paul Revere, Andrew Jackson, Theodore Roosevelt, Douglas MacArthur, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin, and many others. The first Masonic Lodges in Texas were formed in 1836, and today there are approximately 900 lodges and 90,000 Masons in Texas.

Today, Masonry also provides world-class medical care, regardless of ability to pay, through its world-renowned medical institutions, including the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas, the Shriners Hospital for Children in Houston, and the Shriners Burn Institute in Galveston, as well as other medical institutions throughout the United States and in other countries. In the United States, alone, Masons contribute more than $3,000,000 each day to charity, in treatment, services, and other charitable giving.

The Richardson Masonic Lodge shares its building with the Washington Masonic Lodge, the Eagle Masonic Lodge, the York Rite Chapter & Council, the A. C. Garrett Commandery, the Order of Easter Star, for women and men, the Order of Rainbow, for girls of ages 11 to 20, and the Order of DeMolay, for boys of ages 12 to 21 years. These other organizations also will be featured at the Open House and Family Picnic.
