Debra Marie has heart.

It is her heart that has gotten her past life’s missteps – which includes a battle with breast cancer. Yet, through it all, she has never lost sight of one thing – her love for music.

Debra Marie is ready to show everyone within the sound of her voice her skill and finally live the dream she has put off.

The Rockford, Ill., native plans to unveil her project, titled “Debra Marie: Stanzas of My Life,” during two CD release events at the Buttons restaurant in Addison, 15207 Addison Road on Thursday, Oct. 18, and in Fort Worth, 4701 West Freeway #100, on Thursday, Oct. 25. Admission is free to the live event. Both shows begin at 7:30 p.m.

“The forthcoming CD (produced by Ray L. Baker) is a three-fold celebration – 20 years as a breast cancer survivor, my upcoming birthday, and the drop of ‘Stanzas of My Life,’ said theRichardson songbird.

“This music was penned with heart and soul and though it gives you a glimpse of some stanzas of my life; it tells relatable life stories.  We all have a life story to tell, but how fortunate am I to share verses of my life through song as I live out my little girl dream.”

The music on the eight-track CD reflects the joys of finding love, the heartbreak of love that could have been, and surviving life’s trials. Reminiscent of the late Phyllis Hyman, the sultry songstress lends her alto to the up tempo, salsa feel of “Lover’s Holiday” and to “Live,” a chronicle of life events that inspire her to grasp the moment. Debra Marie said, “Cancer, death, and heartbreak bring me to my knees, but still I rise and live my life with purpose.” The death she is referring to in the song is that of her brother, Tim.

In addition, the hopeless romantic shines through in “Home.” The smooth tune is laced with words of love and desire of a woman who awaits the man who “makes her world go around.”
