Richardson man has 2 vehicles chosen for Sept. 28 Collector’s Concours

More than 100 cars have been selected to be displayed and juried in the Collectors Concours at the 3rd annual Park Place Luxury & Supercar Showcase, including two unique vehicles from Richardson resident Ricardo Cabral: a rare 1957 Chevy 150 Sedan and a 1973 AMC Javelin.

“This may be the first and oldest surviving 1957 Chevrolet in the entire world,” said Cabral. “Serial number 00002 indicates this was the second 1957 Chevrolet to roll off the assembly line in Oakland, California. And body number 01 means this was the very first 1957 Chevy Sedan produced there. The car was sold new to Mrs. Victoria Clanfield (then 68 years old) on October 19, 1956 in Portland Oregon. According to her last registration, which expired in 1986, it appears she may have still been driving at the age of 98. She lived to be 100 years old. Today, this rare 1957 Chevy has only 46,134 original, documented miles.”

The Collectors’ Concours will be displayed on the first Fairway of the TPC Golf Course and will include a 1916 Stutz Bearcat; 1936 Pierce Arrow; 1956 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL; 1965 Corvette Stingray; 1966 Shelby GT350H Hertz Rent-a-Racer; and many other rare vehicles.

“My ’73 AMC Javelin is a special edition,” said Cabral. “Instead of the standard 360 cubic inch V8 with an automatic tranny, the ‘Go Pack’ sported a 401 with a T10 Super Borg Warner 4 speed, a Hurst Eliminator shifter, and a 2.43 gear ratio. It put out 330 horsepower and 430 foot-pounds of torque with a 9.5:1 compression ratio. It’s a two owner car that I bought in 1976 for $2,500 in Brentwood, California.
