The City of Richardson has been named recipient of the Gold Hermes Award from the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP) in the Television Placement category for its featured appearance in a story on the Feb. 1, 2012 episode of the Anderson Cooper Show.

The segment showcased a story of survival and rescue involving two Richardson residents, the cooperation of heroes who made it possible, and the coordination between the City and Richardson-based Samsung Telecommunications America, to present, as a token of appreciation, a Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 for all involved.

The Hermes Creative Awards is an international competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of traditional and emerging media. Hermes Creative Awards also recognizes outstanding work in the industry while promoting the philanthropic nature of marketing and communication professionals.

There were more than 5,500 entrees for the 2013 competition, of which only 19 percent received the Gold Award, which is presented to entries judged to exceed the high standards of the industry norm. Judges are industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talents exceed a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry.
