Forum for House District 102 Candidates Republican Linda Koop Declines to Participate

The League of Women Voters of Richardson (LWV-R) sponsored a forum for candidates running for Texas
House District (HD) 102 in the November 3, 2020, election.

The forum was recorded socially distanced on Zoom without an audience on September 15, 2020. The
recorded HD102 forum will be available to the public on September 22nd, on our website,
www.lwvrichardson.org/november-3-2020-election-forums.

Both candidates running in HD102 were invited by email to participate in the forum. 

Democratic incumbent Ana-Maria Ramos (in HD102) is the only candidate to accept our invitation to
participate.

The Republican challenger, Linda Koop, declined to participate.

Current League policy states that the forum will proceed even if only one candidate
participates. During a forum with only one participating candidate, the League must
acknowledge the absence of the missing candidate and state that holding the forum for only one
candidate does not imply endorsement of the participating candidate.

The League expects candidates to participate in nonpartisan public forums so voters have an

opportunity to hear the candidates’ views on many topics.
