Interstate All Battery Center® of Longview Recycles More than 7,000 Pounds of Local Power

LONGVIEW, Tex. (November 2025) Interstate All Battery Center® of Longview, East Texas most trustworthy source of power, hosted a community recycling event and took in more than 7,000 pounds of hard-to-dispose-of items. Store Manager Doug Roberts, who was recently invited to serve on the Longview Board of Directors, was happy to help his neighbors get rid of those hard things.

Unloading these kinds of items safely is tricky, said Roberts. And we are happy to do our part to help keep discarded materials from going into our landfills, or being left on our streets or in our alleyways. If we make it easy, then people may think twice before just tossing it in the trash.

This is the first time Interstate Battery Center of Longview has hosted a recycling event. This years haul took in 5,440 pounds of shredded and recycled paper; 573 books donated by The Longview Public Library; 1,018 pounds of SLI; 28 pounds of SLA; 64 pounds of Alkalines; 9 pounds of Lithium; 460 pounds of cardboard recycled by the City of Longview; as well as 377 non-perishable food items donated to Longview Community Ministries.

Interstate All Battery Center of Longview offers car and truck batteries; home electronic, watch and cordless tool batteries; RV and marine batteries; motorcycle batteries; golf cart batteries; lawn mower batteries; and specialty batteries like hearing aids, alarm systems and battery jump-starters. One of 170 Interstate All Battery Centers nationwide, the Longview location offers a free five-minute car battery test, as well as curbside service and other on-site services like installation, battery replacement, some device and tool repair and rebuilds, and battery recycling.

People will often want to turn their thermostats down when its hotter, but that wont make the system cool any faster. An air conditioner cools your home by extracting heat from the indoor air and transferring it outside and cooling it, using refrigerant. This process involves circulating the refrigerant through a cycle of evaporation and condensation, facilitated by components like the evaporator and condenser coils and a compressor, then blowing cool air back into the home.

Cool Interior Design

One of the easiest things you can do to keep your home cool is to close blinds and curtains to block the suns heat. PVC and aluminum will provide the best thermal insulation for shutters, while drapes that are tightly woven in a medium-to-heavyweight cotton will provide the best heat-blocking ability though extreme heat may call for doubling up with both. Also, fans can help move air around to make it feel cooler.

All that Going In and Out

Humidity doesnt impact indoor temperature, but does hold heat close to the body. An exhaust fan in the kitchen and in the bathroom can limit added humidity. Also, going in and out of the house will increase humidity in the home. Some people open windows at night to save money, which allows all the humidity to come back into the house, forcing the AC to start over again when turned back on.

PLANO (March 2025) The US India Chamber of Commerce DFW (USICOC DFW) hosted its 9th Annual Womens Conference, We Soar High, helping kick off Womens History Month in style.
This years keynote speaker was former Senator and former Ambassador, Kay Bailey Hutchison, who spoke about leadership and women empowerment with Neel Gonuguntla, Executive Board Member of USICOC DFW and COO of Dallas Venture Capital.

On Saturday, December 21, 2024, The Assistance Center of Collin County handed out the holidays to 300 local families, distributing the bounty donated by local organizations and individuals that adopted families this season.

Operating out of space gifted for the season by FlexEtc Plano, Hope for the Holidays matches families in need with generous donors who provide gifts from the childrens wish lists and other essentials.

When the Assistance Center needed a home this season, FlexEtc answered the call, donating space for the holiday headquarters, where families drove home with Christmas cheer.

DALLAS (September 2024) Whats not to like? Beer? Good. Cotton candy? Good. Bacon? GOOOOD. Joey Tribbiani would be proud of Lakewood Brewings Cotton Candy Bacon Blonde Ale making its debut at The State Fair of Texas. The beer will pair alongside Roussos Cotton Candy Bacon on a Stick, this years winner of the Best Taste Sweet category at the Big Tex® Choice Awards. Available in the Magnolia Beer Garden at The State Fair of Texas from September 27 to October 20, the beer is a cotton candy and bacon flavored blonde ale that is light, slightly sweet, and easy drinking.

To be fair, this was a challenge even for our creative crew, said Wim Bens, founder and president of Lakewood Brewing. Weve put bacon in beer before, and weve done fun sweet flavors as well, but to put both in a beer and make it super drinkable took a group effort. But the finished brew turned out fantastic. Its easy to drink, has a slight cotton candy sweet taste and some smoky bacon in the nose. Were beyond excited to partner with Roussos and cant wait to have a few while strolling the Midway!

Roussos Cotton Candy Bacon on a Stick is honey-smoked bacon on a stick cooked with a special seasoning and secret cotton candy syrup glaze and then wrapped in fluffy cotton candy and lightly caramelized to create the most unique piece of bacon in all of Texas, or anywhere for that matter.
