WHAT: Americas Pub Quiz is back on Wednesday nights at Lakewood Brewing Co. as the best live-hosted trivia show brings its free quiz nights to the North Dallas brewery and taproom. Dallas own maker of the number one craft milk stout in Texas will be pouring their current lineup of fall and winter beers ranging from seasonal favorite, Punkel, to Salted Caramel Temptress, and the new NuTemptress. Most of Lakewoods current line-up is available not only at the Taproom, but also on shelves statewide.

The North Texas brewery and taproom recently opened its first-ever kitchen featuring appetizers, salads, sandwiches, flatbread pizzas, and sweets, many that have tastes of Lakewood fan favorite beers. Experience the amazing diversity in wetland vegetation and wildlife while learning about the history and basics of wetland ecology. After a safety and canoeing introduction, spend about 40 minutes on a guided trail around the Heard wetlands, followed by free paddle time to explore on your own.

No experience is necessary for any of the paddle programs. All participants will be given an introduction to canoeing that includes basic strokes, boat safety, and flat water maneuvers. Minimum age: 7 years. All canoe & safety equipment provided.

Celebrate National Trails Day in McKinney at the Trinity Falls Trail Day 5K on Saturday, June 6 at The Lodge at Trinity Falls. This scenic, paved course winds through the beautiful Trinity Falls community and along its 350 acre natural park with miles of wooded riverfront trails.

Check in and festivities begin at 8:00 AM, and the chip timed 5K race starts at 9:00 AM. Registration is $30 and includes race entry, an event t shirt, race bib, and a finisher medal.

This family friendly event welcomes strollers, and a special prize will be awarded to the first place stroller strider. Cash prizes will be awarded to the Top Overall Male and Female finishers (1st $200, 2nd $100, 3rd $50), plus a $50 prize for the top stroller strider. Awards will also be given to the top male and female runners in multiple age groups. The overall male and female winners will also receive a free pair of running shoes valued at $200. The awards ceremony begins at 9:45 AM.

This summer, the 3rd Annual VNA Meals on Wheels Kids Camp (June 812) is giving children ages 811 a hands-on opportunity to step into the role of volunteerslearning about senior hunger, nutrition, and connection, while helping deliver meals to homebound seniors in the Oak Cliff area.

What makes this unique is the direct interaction: kids arent just learning in a classroomtheyre actively participating in meal delivery routes and seeing firsthand the impact of service in their own community. Campers also take part in hands-on activities that foster empathy and understanding, a fruit and vegetable tasting, and structured physical activity.

Through engaging activities, campers will learn about:

The reality of senior hunger in our community
The importance of good nutrition
Ways to combat social isolation
The value of volunteerism

Series of Free Educational Seminars Provide Answers to Late-Life Changes

Dallas TX: The truth. It's what Dallas residents want concerning late-in-life changes like reverse mortgages, 55+ senior living options, selling a house in today's market, and preparing to "stay put" in your own home as you age in place.

These topics, along with others, will be presented in the upcoming Seasoned Conversation Truth Series as 60-90 minute monthly educational seminars beginning on January 13, 2022, 10:00 am, at the Network of Community Ministries, 1500 International Pkwy, Unit 300, Richardson, TX 75081. We invite adults 55+, caregivers, and their families to attend the free "Seasoned Conversations Truth Series" to learn about issues related to homeownership and post-retirement downsizing in the DFW area as they navigate change.

This series of candid conversations and expert panel discussions about the unique and often complex issues facing long-time homeowners is to be moderated by Angela McCants, considered the leading authority on issues related to downsizing, late-life relocation, and (55+) living solutions. As the founder of Dallas Supreme Relocations and Broker Associate with Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate, Angela McCants and her business partner, Steven Oliphant, have made it their mission to educate and guide consumers and their families on best practices related to post-retirement living.

"Seniors and families realize that the market is good right now in Dallas, Richardson, Plano, and surrounding areas and are preparing to sell current homes and move into something more manageable," said McCants. "Many seniors have no idea what is available to them, how much it will cost or the process for making all the pieces fit together. We want to give them trustworthy information, introduce them to trusted local resources, and answer their questions.
