The Richardson Independent School District Excellence in Education Foundation recently held their Evening of Honors event, with the theme RISD’s Got Talent, to honor outstanding teachers and schools. More than $70,000 was raised for the Foundation at the event chaired by Sandra Hayes and co- chair Dina Gold- Cesario. Donna Shepard serving as honorary chair, and singer and RISD graduate Lyndsey Jones provided entertainment.

Those recognized at the Evening of Honors event included:

  • Dr. Arzell Ball – Award of Excellence
  • Richardson City Council – Leadership Award
  • Ashley Nick, Wallace Elementary – Fujitsu Teacher Trailblazer  Award
  • Omar Pastrana, Richardson West Junior  High- Metro PCS Engineering  & Technology Award
  • Arapaho Classical Magnet- Pogue Construction Award
  • Chad Gilliland, Richardson High  School-TI Foundation, Innovations in STEM Teaching Award
  • Clark Good, Berkner High School- TI Foundation, Innovations in STEM Teaching Award
